Print Artist Platinum is the ultimate in desktop publishing software. With this program, you’re able to create every type of project imaginable. Plus, you have added flexibility with the gigantic template and graphic libraries available at your disposal. All you have to do is find the template you need, throw a few graphics in there and you have a professional project that’s ready to publish. If you’re the type that likes to get down to the nitty gritty of a project, this program has more than enough options available for you. When you start a project from scratch, you can customize every aspect of your project. The results you get from this approach will be far more impressive than what you would get from piecing something together from pre-existing elements in the program.

Projects:
Nova Development advertises that creating a project is a simple 3-step process. First, you select the category and event, occasion or theme from their huge library of designs. Next, you fill in your details and add a personal touch the project.
Finally, you print it out and share it with whoever you wish. You would think a process like this would result in lackluster final products, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
You can create any project you can think of without having to thumb through a gigantic manual or having to learn how to use an overly complicated program. You will be impressed with what you create using this program along with everyone you show it to.
Ease of Use:
Print Artist has a clean, intuitive interface that is fairly easy to use and includes an extensive tutorial to guide you through its more involved features.
We encountered a few drawbacks as we used the software including being frustrated by the lack of ability to delete the extra pages in predesigned projects. It’s a good idea to spend some time with the in-program tutorials as well as watching the brief video tour offered on the developer’s website to familiarize yourself with the different features.
Photo/Graphic Tools:
The extensive image library contained in Print Artist Platinum is full of a wide variety of project styles. The quality ranges from very polished and contemporary to rather dated and cheesy. The image editor included in the program is adequate for basic corrections but is rather limited overall. This is alright though because a lot of the images they have don’t need much editing and can be placed into a project right away. And, if you had a library filled with only polished, clean images, you would be excluding countless users from the creative process. We were pleased with the wide selection of graphics we were given.
Text Tools:
The text tools included with Print Artist are decent. Most of the text effects are pre-formatted shortcuts to achieve a particular look with a single mouse click. The most exasperating text tool hang-up is the all-or-nothing approach within the text box. This inability to include two or more text styles and/or sizes in one text box is particularly frustrating if you want to bold a word or increase its point size within a greeting.
Printing/Sharing:
Print Artist offers numerous ways to print and/or share your creations, from email and IM to print. You can save projects as PDFs to send to a print service bureau or print your creations out on special iron-on transfer paper to create T-shirts or tote bags. You can even burn slide shows to CD.
Help/Support:
Nova Development gives you the option to access a knowledgebase and FAQ section. They only allow users to contact them through a support ticket system. We would’ve liked to have seen more contact options.
Summary:
Print Artist is an excellent desktop publishing program that’s sure to meet all of your creative needs. It has a little something for everyone and if you decide to take a chance on it, you’re not going to be disappointed.
